The idea of creating the brand Companhia das Cestas came after a mother and daughter's trip to Turkey. Beatriz Costa and Sofia instantly felt inspired by the cultural aspects of the country they visited, and so they bought some baskets as a souvenir and customized them to offer them to their friends. With this, the idea of recovering an old Portuguese art of make artisanal straw baskets, came out! The baskets used to be used to transport food, and are now alive by Companhia das Cestas to give them a cooler purpose. All handmade by craftsmen, in the Algarve, in the south of Portugal.
